The Week's Biggest Story
Thursday: Clarity Act’s failure gave crypto ‘faster’ regulatory wins, Bitwise CIO says
Market Snapshot
Bitcoin held near $85k while majors fell about 2% and total market cap fell 5%. The Market Indicator reads bullish but Bitcoin sits about 32% below its 1-year high, so bounces need fresh cash to stick.
Narratives Snapshot
Tokenized Assets dropped hard and Made in USA also moved down, but today's headlines give no clear reason for either move. With FIGR_HELOC and SUPER still up, it looks like rotation or momentum across the wider groups.
Alpha Spotlight
Oil · USO
Oil trailed the majors at -5.1% this week.
Oil is a macro inflation signal. Its -5.1% weekly move likely reflects tighter growth or supply expectations, which matters because rates, dollar strength, and liquidity still drive crypto beta.
What Prediction Markets Think
Bettors pulled bullish targets with 4% or less odds on near-term highs. The read is faded momentum, not panic.

1 Saturday: Once a $2.3B Network, Ethereum Layer-2 Blast Is Shutting Down
Watch Blast withdrawals ahead of the Oct. 26 deadline to see if the exit remains orderly.

2 Monday: Strategy bought more Bitcoin. Stack hits 847,666 coins. Price still fell to $83k.
Watch Oct. 2 when Bitget finishes its restart and Strategy style dip buying meets a Greed reading near $83k.

3 Saturday: A community bank group sued the OCC over granting national trust charters to crypto firms.
This is banks versus crypto for the same license. Charters let crypto firms custody and settle without a bank middleman. The suit says the regulator stretched what Congress allowed, so the fight is about who gets to be a bank.
If a court pauses new charters while the case proceeds, that would support delays for crypto trust approvals.

4 Tuesday: Ethereum set Oct 6 for the Glamsterdam upgrade on Sepolia with builder separation and new gas pricing.
Sepolia is the dress rehearsal before mainnet, so bugs are cheap here and costly later. Builder separation plus block-level lists change how blocks get built and priced. If tests run clean, mainnet planning gets real. If not, timelines slip.
If Sepolia activates on Oct 6 without a rollback, that would support moving to the next testnet. A delay or bug would push the mainnet date out.

5 Wednesday: SEC sued four firms over $15M. Fake AI tips ran through WhatsApp chats. No real trading happened at all.
Watch whether Bitcoin ETF inflows stay broad as the SEC fraud case moves to asset freezes and the NEAR ETF lists. That decides if the $84k hold sticks or fades.
Risk Map
01 Greed is back before the breakout is provenFear and Greed reads 67 for Greed while Bitcoin is down 2% on the day. That mix often means dips get bought until one dip does not. |
02 Weak chains are closing, not mergingBlast fell 98% from its peak. When money picks winners this fast, stragglers can freeze or gate exits. |
VIEW Bottom lineThe read: buyers are picky because weak networks are closing and Bitcoin must prove $85k. That flips if Blast exits stay smooth and Bitcoin holds above $85k on daily closes. |
